Penny Brown took up painting after her children moved out of the nest. Her goal was to create pictures for her own walls, but the task soon escalated into a major hobby. She paints in both watercolors and oils, and prefers to paint out-of-doors, on site. Penny is essentially self-taught, though she has attended many demonstrations and workshops, some by nationally acclaimed artists.

An avid sailor, Penny frequently chooses seascapes, sailboats, and harbor scenes as subjects. She has received designation as a United States Coast Guard Artist and has a painting hanging in their permanent collection.

These featured paintings are all watercolors.
